Gill's Aussie lifestyle works for her.
Registered nurse Gill Staveley visited Australia five times before she
decided to move over here to live last November.
"I
guess you could say I wanted to be sure, but the truth is after visiting
family and friends a few times, I decided Australia would be a great place
to live."
"Apart from the great weather and the laidback lifestyle, your
money goes a lot further down here. When you first arrive you feel like
a millionaire!"
"The cost of living - from petrol, to food and going out - is a
lot cheaper. And I still can't believe the cost of houses. I'm looking
at buying by the beach for about 40,000 pounds."
Gill moved to Adelaide, South Australia from Leeds, in England's Yorkshire
just in time to enjoy her first Australian Christmas.
"It was mad, the sun shining and everyone in shorts. It was fun
though, but I'm still planning my Irish Christmas for the middle of the
year."
Despite enjoying her new home Gill isn't having a holiday, starting nursing
just a few days after she arrived.
"I'm
here to live now, so I started working as soon as I could. A woman my
mother met recommended Nursing Agency Australia and I contacted them when
I arrived."
"They've been excellent, really on the ball in terms of sorting
out the admin side of things. The wages are good and they give me shifts
whenever and wherever I want them."
"The hospitals where I have been working are excellent. All of the
staff are really friendly towards me and the wards are much better staffed
than where I worked over in England."
Nursing Agency Australia allows Gill the flexibility to enjoy her new
lifestyle.
"It's been great. I feel like doing more things outdoors here. After
work I love walking on the beach with the dogs near my parents' place."
"I'm really looking forward to seeing a bit more of my new home.
Later on I plan to do a work placement in rural Australia. It's a great
way to experience living somewhere remote while still earning a living."
"I also want to visit the major capitals, such as Perth and Sydney,
and travel up to Queensland for some of their sunshine."
So would Gill recommend agency nursing to her UK colleagues?
"Definitely. One of my friends is planning to emigrate to Queensland
and I've already told her about Nursing Agency Australia."
